What is the "Bug Board?"
BoardAid is here to make the USMLE Step 1 and COMLEX I as easy as possible. The Bug Board takes care of all the gram positives and negatives for you! Microbiology has never been easier. The Bug Board is 18" x 24", double sided, laminated with over 40 different bacteria.

How will the Bug Board improve my score?
Imagine putting 30 notecards on one piece of paper. Imagine at one time being able to see every gram positive bacteria you will see on Step 1. The Bug Board makes it easy to learn the most important facts. However, the most important aspect of the Bug Board is its amazing ability to increase your score. The Bug Board has been designed to not only help you memorize but also to improve your score. Here is how it works. The Bug Board allows you to study every bacteria at one time. In studying from the Bug Board you not only learn the information but you remember the location of every bacteria on the board itself. This will be key when you narrow an answer down to two choices. Here is an example:

An organism is found to be a gram (-) rod, catalase (+). Which organism is it?
A) Salmonella
B) Shigella
C) Legionella
D) Staphylococcus
E) Neisseria

You know right away that answer D is gram positive so you can eliminate that answer. And you know from the Bug Board that Neisseria was on the left side and gram (-) rods were on the right side of the board, so that one can be eliminated. Now you have three choices left and you cannot remember which one is catalase (+). But you do remember that there was only one catalase (+) and it was at the bottom of the Bug Board. You also recall that salmonella and shigella were at the top of the Bug Board. At this point you can get the answer correct. Not by remembering that Legionella is catalase (+) but by simply remembering that when you looked down you saw catalase (+).

USMLE Step 1 is an extremely challenging test! With the amount of information covered you need every advantage you can get. Studying with the Bug Board will give you the advantage you need in microbiology.
Here is one example of the information you will get for each bacteria:
